COMMITTED TO YOUR RECOVERY

Ginkgo Leaf on Beige

At L A Case Management I am dedicated to providing exceptional rehabilitation case management services.

I carry a small caseload and enjoy providing a thorough service. I will: guide you through the process; provide a clear structured INA report covering your holistic needs;  present strong logical arguments on your behalf, backed with appropriate evidence. All clearly referenced for medical legal purposes. This can be used as a stand alone report.

I essentially work directly with therapists and solicitors to achieve your goals. Your fully qualified and experienced team will enjoy working together, pulling on professional and personal experiences to support your rehabilitation.

This may include; occupational therapy, neuropsychology, counselling psychology,  physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics and sleep actigraphy among others.

I will source goods and services for you, pulling on ten years experience working in the voluntary sector prior to nursing.

At 19 yrs old, my fiancée and I were returning from an 800km round trip when (after running the engine in on a new bike, we speeded up for the last 3km). We experienced a head on collision at 120kmph into an excavator machine. The warning lights were not working and it was night-time. Two car wrecks had been cleared away prior to our collision. There was a loss of consciousness, therefore a head injury. I experienced two years living with disability ( 6 leg fractures and tissue damage) in recovery. On this visit I had forgotten to take out insurance and so was reliant on legal aid which at the time did not provide a translation service. This then involved five years translating medical legal French between solicitors. There was no case manager!  I continued to ride motorbikes for 25 yrs. It is amazing to come full circle and support others in this situation but now with, all of the therapy, services and goods available. (Liza 2025)

So I understand the loss of independence, privacy, dignity and the trauma of your life changing overnight. As well as for me a complete change in perspective.

At LACM I am here to collaborate

I wanted to reach out to see if you could continue as my case manager. Your understanding of my situation has been invaluable, and I’m not sure anyone else could provide the same support.

Please let me know what steps we need to take for this to happen.

Thank you so much!

Prior to my accident I trained in business and finance and at 19 years old I was working in American Express in Paris as a foreign exchange cashier.

Post accident I completed a Masters Honours in Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews over four years this included moral philosophy and French. Moral philosophy at masters level provides a good foundation in logic and reason, therefore in the skill of presenting logical argument.

I have been a NMC registered nurse for 21 years. I started in neurology and my more recent hands on experience was managing fifty people with chronic illness and nursing care  over 12 hr periods.

I trained in case management with an OT Director aprox. 16 yrs ago. I delivered ABI therapy to clients, designed and delivered various healthcare training packages to staff and family, sourced and supported vocational opportunities for ABI clients in their new vocations.

Following a personal bereavement I went on to work on healthcare related local and national pilot development and delivery.

Ukrainian Health Needs Pilot for NHS Scottish Borders. I developed and delivered the pilot for public health borders.

Outcomes Star for Carers I facilitated the development of this tool in partnership with SEEL, East Lothian Council, Carers working group and the Carers Trust UK. I designed, developed and delivered the training. This tool has been used by the Carers Trust for about 15 years.

PEF, Promoting Excellence in the Dementia Care Framework. Designed by the Scottish government. I developed this a bit further to make it user friendly and trained all managers in Health and Social care in one county, across sectors in the use of the PEF.

I returned to case management 3.5 years ago as an associate. I enjoyed working with a large rehabilitation firm for 2.5 years and more recently moved to working independently and directly with solicitors.

I have enjoyed working directly with the head of neurotrauma for a national solicitors firm for three years.

LACM Fees.

The case management fees are structured as follows:

£120.00 per hour for case management services,

£70.00 per hour for travel,

£0.60 per mile mileage.

Please note that Initial Needs Assessments (INA's) are charged based on the time required, clients with acquired brain injuries (ABI) or learning disabilities (LD) may require more time compared to those without head injuries or learning disabilities.

Usual INA's are 2 hrs.

Clients who need more time will have a maximum of 3 hrs. However most untrained people will struggle to focus after 2 hrs.

ABI or LD clients can have a double session / two visits for the INA if required up to 4 hrs.

Report writing is usually a minimum of 21 hrs for ABI cases. For orthopaedic injuries and full capacity it is closer to 14 hrs. This is balanced with a fair C.M. fee.
